Day 6-7/ Nov. 16. 2009

After a brief hiatus (Friday) 3PM Sports is back . Big weekend , so let's get to it!!!

Sports in G--
* The Pac-Man put it on Cotto . I will never pick against him again. He did what I feel is one of the hardest things to do in sports beat a bigger man who is a quality fighter. Paquiao vs Mayweather would be epic. Hope it gets done next year.
* PUNT THE BALL!!! Great game between the Pats and Colts. You have to show some confidence in your defense. Even if the Colts and Peyton drive 60 or 70 yards and beat you. For the defense's psyche down the road, you have to punt . Coach Bill is still one of the best, but even the best make wrong decisions and this was a horrible call.
* Huge win for the Bengals this team was built to beat the Steelers. The AFC playoffs are shaping up to be classic. Pitt and Big Ben will be there. The Chargers are playing like a contender.
* Minnesota and N. O. in the NFC look destin to meet for a berth in the bowl!!! The other contenders are too inconsistent. More on that later.
* Texas , Florida , Bama all three won and continue the road to the Championship game with the SEC championship game deciding which team will play the Horns.
* Stanford is a solid football team in a weak Pac 10. QB Andrew Luck will be an All American in years to come.
* So So CAL otherwise known as USC is not a good football team. Pete Carrol has had an amazing run and deserves a lot of credit. But as cocky as he has been . You can not fault fans for enjoying this down time for the Trojans . Heck even fellow coaches are joining in with Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh going for two in the 4th quarter with a big lead and then giving it back to Pete when questioned during the post game shake.
* Congrats to Michelle Wie on her first win on tour. Look for her to be a multiple winner and take a major title next year.
* Hawks - If this young team can keep making shots at this rate and play a little more defense the East race could include them.
* Nuggets - are gelling earlier than expected and with Mr. Big Shot, Chauncey Billups, leading the way are scarry.
* Suns are playing great as Steve Nash shines , he needs to get some help and rest if they expect to continue at this pace.
* College B-ball top ten with conference previews coming Wednesday .
Texas Sports--
* Texas continues it's roll. I look for big wins against Kansas and the Aggies, with a possible game with Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship game being the only game possibly giving them trouble. The Horns need to stay sharp and attentive. I think Greg Davis has somethings in the cupboard look for these plays to be used in the final games if nothing else then to have the potential Title game opponent have to be aware of them.
* Houston sorry fellas I guess my praise jinxed you!!!
* TCU continues to impress. Wow I would love to see them play Texas in a +1 game after Teaxs beats Tebow and the Frogs handle Bama. Yeah I said it!!!
* He will always be a Texan to me so congrats to VY, just win baby. Bud Adams, show some class buddy!!!
* Spurs beat Mavs to show who owns the Lone Star State!!!
* All three NBA teams are off to a good start. Mavs and Spurs need to get healthy but the will take the small injuries this early in the season. Look for both to get better and battle it out for the division. Rockets will prove to be inconsistent due to age and lack of bigs scoring.
* The Cowboys coaching staff and stars are to blame for there inconsistency . They did not show up on Sunday. No leadership . Awfully disappointing . I hoped they watched Peyton's gang Sunday night and learned something about being a team and never giving up.
Team of the week--
A local feel this week, The Lake Travis Cavaliers. The dominate high school team has won 41 games in a row and is looking to three-peat as State Champs. After loosing Garret Gilbert to the Horns some looked for them to slip. They have not and continue to dominate. Good Luck from 3PM!!!
Quote of the Day
